Larnai Black Pottery
Researching Indigenous Crafts of Meghalaya.
Venturing into the remote lands of Meghalaya, our team witnessed the making of these unique black & and terracotta pieces passed down through generations. Locally sourced black clay from Sung Valley is mixed with serpentine stone to create rare shades and forms resulting from their vernacular methods.
Teaming up with the MEGHALAYA BASIN MANAGEMENT AGENCY, we embarked on a mission to enhance design, empower artisans, and honour their profound traditional knowledge of the craft.

As these communities grapple with labor migrations and geographical isolation, can design become a tool for revitalizing marginalized sectors, fostering resilience and prosperity?
